This course is intended for Cycle Two of secondary school. The aim of the course is to encourage students to focus on the major issues of contemporary life, and to become actively involved in the learning process.  This is particularly important as students are in the middle of adolescence, a time of transition marked by a more active quest for intellectual, emotional and social autonomy. They are on the threshold of adulthood and their relationship to knowledge is changing.
